We are proud to have a galaxy of supporters with us to take up the challenge of saving children getting affected with HIV / AIDS. All of them have stood by Asha Kirana and have reposed great faith in the work done. The sponsors are:

National AIDS Control Organization - New Delhi:

National AIDS Control Organisation is a division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that provides leadership to HIV/AIDS control programme in India through 35 HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Societies. In 1986, following the detection of the first AIDS case in the country, the National AIDS Committee was constituted in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

As the epidemic spread, need was felt for a nationwide programme and an organisation to steer the programme. In 1992 India's first National AIDS Control Programme (1992-1999) was launched, and National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) was constituted to implement the programme.

A National Council on AIDS chaired by the Prime Minister and consisting of 31 ministries, seven chief ministers, civil society representatives, positive people's network and private sector organisations was constituted with the following objectives:

* To mainstream HIV/AIDS issue in all ministries and departments by treating it as a development challenge and not merely a public health problem.
* To provide leadership to mount multi-sectoral response to combat HIV/AIDS in the country with special reference to youth, women and the workforce. Visit Website

Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Mysore:

The IAP is the only association of Pediatricians in India as compared with other such organizations of medical specialties that are often fragmented and segmented. This indicates the unity that the association has been able to maintain among its members over the past 46 years.

One of the major activities undertaken by the IAP since its inception has been to organize Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs by holding conferences, symposia, lectures and other meets all over the country.

Even the Government of India recognized this strength and unity of the IAP. It has over the years invited the participation and critical appraisal of Child Health programs initiated by the Central and State Governments.

IAP head office is in Mumbai while Delhi is the seat of its official publication. 'Indian Pediatrics' is an indexed journal and the place to look for all academic achievements of Indian Pediatricians. A more recent journal - Practical Pediatrics - is published from Chennai and is fast becoming a popular source of scientific information. Visit Website

AIDS Society of India (ASI) is a non-profit organization whose activities are established in India and its services are extended across the country, irrespective of caste or language.

Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF):

In 1981, Elizabeth Glaser was infected with the AIDS virus through a blood transfusion, and unknowingly passed it on to both of her children. The Glaser family's tragedy inspired the creation of the Pediatric AIDS Foundation in 1988. Since then, we have been at the forefront of the fight against pediatric HIV/AIDS, making remarkable strides in our struggle against an illness that has ravaged the globe. Visit Website
